THOS. H. BURKE DIED SUDDENLY FRIDAY AT WAKEMAN
Funeral Services Will Be Held Monday Morning With Burial Here
A former resident, who was widely known locally, succumbed suddenly Friday at Wakeman, when Thomas H. Burke, inspector in the employ of the Ohio Public Utilities Commission and former NKP conductor, was stricken with a heart attack at the home of his brother, William. Death occurred about 11 o'clock Friday morning.
Although Mr. Burke had been in failing health during the past two years, his condition did not appear aggravated earlier Friday, when he arose at his accustomed time, ate breakfast and was about the house until suddenly stricken.
Mr. Burke was born in Wakeman 64 years ago and spent his early life in that community. For many years he was an employe of the Nickel Plate, being a freight conductor at the time of his retirement from railroad service. During recent years he has been a member of the staff of Utility Commission inspectors and in the course of his duties frequently visited Belevue. He had been a resident here for more than 30 years, and held membership here in the O.R.C.B. of R.T. and Knights of Columbus.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. E. P. McGovern of Cleveland, Mrs. J. A. Bailey of Canton, four brothers, William of Wakeman, P.T. and J. M. Burke of Elyria, H. F. Burke of Clarksburg, W. Va. and two sisters, Mrs. Catherine Martin and Miss Sadie Burke, of Wakeman. Mrs. Burke preceded her husband in death 14 years ago.
Rev. P. T. Burke, of Cleveland, a cousin of the deceased, will officiate at funeral services, which will be held Monday morning at 9:30 from St. Mary's Catholic Church in Wakeman. Burial will be in the Catholic cemetery here.
