    • He is mentioned in the book "Louisville -- The Way It Was; 1834 - 1975" as one of the men who were enrolled as electors in the first Pollbook, voted on April 1, 1872, and who were, at that time, residents of Louisville, Stark County, Ohio: "Charles Varoun" was the way his name was spelled in this book.

He's found in the Products of Industry schedule in Nimishillen, Stark County, Ohio, during the year ending June 1, 1870. Name of individual producing value of $500 annually: Vouron, Charles. Name of business or product: Tanner; none curried. Capital invested in the business: 700. Kind of power: hand. Name or description of machines: Blank. Average number of hands employed: 1 male above 16 years of age. Total amount paid in wages during the year: Blank. Number of months in active operation: 12. Materials: Skins, Hides, Bark. There was mention of the Vourron family made in the September 21, 1876 edition of the Stark County Democrat: "LOUISVILLE -- Mr. Vourron and family left last week for their native France, there to remain." Perhaps this was some relation of our Charles Vourron?

He's found in the 1880 census in Nimishellen, Stark County, OH: VOURRON, Charles (45); wife Alzise (40); children Emile (18); Emma (9); Louis (2); Otille (2/12). Charles and Alzire were born in France. All the children were born in Ohio. Charles was a tanner.

Published in the Stark County Democrat on 05-08-1884:
Mr. Charles Vourron, who has been sick for some time, is able to be around again.

Published in the Stark County Democrat on 04-09-1885:
Mr. E. M. London and Mr. Pontius bought the tannery of Charles Vourron, at Sheriff's sale, at Canton, last Saturday, for the sum of $458, twenty feet of ground adjoining Mrs. Alzire Vourron's property, are included in the sale. Creditors, it is said, will realize about fifteen percent of their claims.

Obituary from the Louisville Herald, April 2, 1897, p. 5:
      DEATH OF CHARLES VOURRON
Mr. Charles Vourron died on Wednesday morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Joseph Baum, on West Gorgas street, after a several months' illness caused by a complication of diseases. He was born in the Department of Doubs, France, making his age about sixty two years. In 1860, he was married to Miss Alzire Rebillot, and five children were born to them, two having preceded him to the home above. A widow, one daughter and two sons remain to mourn the loss of a kind husband and father. The funeral services will be held at the Catholic church on Saturday morning, and the remains will be interred in the Catholic cemetery, south of Louisville.

He's buried in the St. Joseph Section of the St. Louis Cemetery, Louisville, Ohio, in Lot 28, Grave 3. His name is spelled "Viourion" in the cemetery records. There is also a "Carolus Vourron" listed in their directory in the same area. We think these are actually the same person.
