    • On April 7, 1882, Arter purchased 40 acres of land in the 13th District lying on the waters of Bird's Creek for the sum of $50.00, from John Stinnett, who had purchased the land from Arch McMahan in 1868. The farm in Sevier County was sold on October 28, 1913 to W. I. King for $500.00. Arter Dunn purchased a farm in Bradley County, TN, in the area known as Buck's Pocket. This farm was located just off Spring Place Road. In March of 1914, Arter and Martha began the move to Bradley County. The following story of their move from one county to another was told by their daughter Leona Dunn Gates to her grandchildren: Pap and mother were ready to leave on a Monday morning in March. All of the older boys and their families came with us, also Grandma Louisa Dunn. She stayed with us til 1915, when she wanted to go home to die (return to Sevier Co.). She never made it back to the mountains that she loved. Grandma Louisa died in Monroe County, TN, at the home of her son Arch Dunn. When we started out there was one wagon and a surry. The wagon carried all of our belongings. The older children walked, or watched after the livestock. It took us seven full days to come the distance. We went to a farm that Pap had bought in this new country that none of us knew or did not have family close at hand. Mother had given birth to her last baby in December of 1913. Grandma came to live with us because she had been living in our house and had no where else to live, I guess. I was 13 years old when we left the mountains of Sevier County.
