    My father-in-law George Murray (nephew of George McMahon) worked at this gas station while he was attending high school in Monroeville. He lived with his aunt and uncle and worked at their gas station / diner. George McMahon ran the gas station while his wife Eleanor (Ruffing) ran the diner.

At that time, he was still a farm operator, although he went on to open a gas station / restaurant. He's found in the 1930 census in Monroeville, Huron County, OH: McMAHON, George J. (44); wife Eleanor H. (40); children Imelda M. (12) and John P. (11). George was proprietor of a gas filling station and Eleanor was manager of a lunch room.

      GEO. MCMAHON, 65, OF MONROEVILLE, DIES IN HOSPITAL GEORGE J. McMAHON , 65, WELL KNOWN MONROEVILLE RESIDENT , DIED MONDAY AT 4:30 P. M. IN MEMORIAL HOSPITAL , NORWALK. FUNERAL , RITES WILL BE HELD TUESDAY AT 9:30 A. M. IN ST. JOSEPH CATHOLIC CHURCH AND BURIAL WILL BE IN THE PARISH CEMETERY. MR. Mc MAHON WAS BORN IN BELLEVUE ON APRIL 26, 1885, THE SON OF PATRICK AND CATHERINE McMAHON. HE LIVED HERE UNTIL MAY 1916, WHEN HE PURCHASED THE GARDNER-YOUNG PROPERTY AT THE CORNER OF ROUTES 20 AND 99 AT THE MONROEVILLE CITY LIMITS. HE OPENED ONE OF THE FIRST STANDARD SERVICES STATIONS ON ROUTE 20 IN THIS PART OF THE STATE AND CONTINUED TO OPERATE THE STATION AND RESTAURANT THERE UNTIL HIS RETIREMENT IN 1937 BECAUSE OF ILL HEALTH. HE WAS MARRIED TO THE FORMER ELEANOR RUFFLING, NORWALK IN ST. PAUL'S CATHOLIC CHURCH, NORWALK, ON JAN. 25, 1916. HIS WIDOW, TWO CHILDREN, MRS. JOHN W. YOUNG, STEUBENVILLE, AND ATTY. JOHN P. COLUMBUS, AND TWO GRANDCHILDREN SURVIVE. BROTHERS AND SISTERS SURVIVING ARE : TWO BROTHERS, PETER, TOLEDO : TOM, BELLEVUE:FIVE SISTERS: SISTER MARY IMELDA; MRS. HARRY BALL, BELLEVUE; MRS. LEWIS EVERETT, HURON; MRS. ALFRED BICK , TOLEDO; MRS. JAMES MURRAY, WAKEMAN. HE WAS A CHARTER MEMBER OF THE BELLEVUE K. OF C. FRIENDS MAY CALL AT THE FAMILY HOME AT 165 RIDGE ST. AFTER SEVEN O`CLOCK THIS EVENING. THE E. J. GROSS FUNERAL HOME IS IN CHARGE OF ARRANGEMENTS.
