Obituary published in the Louisville Herald on 12/13/1900 (p. 5): Death of Mrs. Caroline Cholley Mrs. Caroline Cholley died at the home of her son, Peter Cholley, living near Belfort, on Tuesday evening, after a sickness of long duration, caused by a cancer of the stomach. Mrs. Cholley, whose maiden name was Caroline Socie, was twice married, her first husband, Frank Sabourine, living for several months only after their marriage. One son, Frank Sabourine, who is now in California, was born to this union. She then married Peter Cholley, and for a number of years they lived on a farm near Louisville. After the death of Mr. Cholley, which occurred some years ago, she had been making her home with her children. Mr. and Mrs. Cholley were the parents of sixteen children, seven of whom are living. They are Joseph Cholley, of Tennessee; Harvey Cholley, Sheldon, North Dakota; Mrs. Joseph Breesen, of Wayne county, Ohio; Louis Cholley, Canton; Peter and Eugene Cholley and Mrs. Samuel Cheveraux, of Louisville. A sister, Mrs. Eutine, of Harrisburg, and a brother, Mr. E. Socie of Fort Wayne, Indiana, are yet living. Mrs. Cholley was aged about seventy-seven years. During her life, which was a long and very useful one, Mrs. Cholley formed many friends, who were grieved to learn of her death. The funeral services will be held at St. Louis Catholic church, of this place, on Saturday morning, Mrs. Cholley having been a faithful follower of that faith all the years of her life. The services will be conducted by Rev. Father Senner, after which the remains will be laid to rest in the Catholic cemetery.
