He's found in the 1880 census in Emerts Cove, Sevier County, TN: STINITT, Jackson C. (42); wife Mary A. (38); children Rebecca (12); Martha J. (11); Samyal (9); Mary E. (8); John (6); David C. (5); Andrew J. (3); George (2); Nancy C. (4/12). Everyone in the household was born in TN. Jackson was a farmer.
According to the 1900 census, he and Mary had been married for 39 years, which would have made their wedding date in 1861. At the time of that census, she had had 11 children born, with 10 still living. Jackson could read and write, but Mary could not. They had a grandson living with them by the name of Clyde R. Rolen, who was born in March 1897 and was age 3. I cannot connect "Rolen" with any of their daughters -- yet. Their nephew, Eli Webb (b. January 1857) and a lodger, Mary E. Eslinger (b. January 1882) were living in their household.
